Pedagoška delavnica z učno serijo Sprint: The Journey Not the Destination: Using Student Textbooks Creatively

The Journey Not the Destination: Using Student Textbooks Creatively
Every textbook for teaching and learning English is like a roadmap with useful stopping places along the way. Because, if learning English is a journey, can we really say that we ever really ‘arrive’ at a final destination? Probably not.

So every step has to count and be as interesting and memorable as possible. We need textbooks as maps to guide us through a syllabus but maps can only do so much. Once we arrive at interesting spots (for example a topic area or a grammar item), we need to look up from the map, look around and explore as much as we can. This session therefore looks at a unit from the upper-primary course, Sprint, to show how we can adapt any page from a textbook to add creativity, lifting English off the page to turn a school subject into life skill whilst engaging and motivating our learners.

Tell Me About it! Speaking and Writing with Teens
As soon as we have taught new vocabulary and grammar to students, it is vital that we personalise their learning with meaningful and purposeful activities – not just because the exam demands it, but because engaged and motivated learners will enjoy and remember their lessons much more, which leads to better results when tested.

Teens want to be heard in many ways, so we can harness their opinions and interests to get them speaking and writing in English. Using materials from the Sprint upper-primary course, this session looks at developing the production skills, looking at ways to take ideas from a coursebook and encouraging the students speak and write to apply and consolidate new and existing language.

16. marec, 16.30–17.30

Veselimo se (spletnega) srečanja z vami in vas prijazno pozdravljamo!
